One Last Vote Ask

For Monroe County here in Indiana, there will be an election happening this Tuesday, November 7th from 6 am to 6 pm.  The good people of District 3 here in Bloomington will be determining who will represent them in city council which will impact what kind of city we live in for the next four years.  It is at this time I am asking for those in the district to cast their vote for me, Brett Heinisch, and choose me to be your councilman for the next four years.

Bloomington hasn’t had a non-Democrat on the city council for over a decade.  The party has dominated city government during this time and since then crime (especially violent crime) has gone up, homelessness continues to remain a problem, and the city is still unsure of its revenues which has resulted in repeated raises in county taxes.  There’s an old saying that “the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over again and expecting a different result” which is why it is time for a change here in Bloomington.  That is why I, a Republican, am running for city council as I believe that it is time Bloomington gets a new direction and finally attempts to address these issues.

Of course, change for change's sake is hardly the greatest approach which is why voters need to select the best person for the job.  I do have the educational background that would make me qualified for the job since I do have a Masters in Public Affairs from SPEA (O’Neill).  I also have the experiences needed in politics for this position since I have interned for three congressmen which has taught me a lot about public service.  I believe my education and work in politics do qualify me for the position and that I can use that to best serve Bloomington.

However, the most important thing that I can offer my fellow Bloomingtonians is the guarantee that I will always listen to their needs.  I reached out to 2450 households in Bloomington this election cycle, and a common theme was that the city seemed to have no interest in addressing their needs when they attempted to reach out or simply didn’t care about their perspective when debating policy.  The city government is a servant of the people and it needs someone who will always be bringing their needs and concerns to Bloomington.

My guarantee to my fellow Bloomingtonians is that if I am elected, I will always do everything in my power to address their needs.  Be it through government or outside, my duty as an elected official would be to serve my constituents and make sure their issues are met to the best of my ability.  I promise that if I am chosen, every member of the 3rd district will always have my ear and I will do everything I can to help them with the city.

For that reason, I am asking for your vote this November 7th so that we can make Bloomington an even better place.  I believe that with your support, we can make Bloomington a safe, more transparent, and affordable place to live.  I can’t do that without you though so please go to the polls this Tuesday, November 7th, and together we will send a message to Bloomington that it is time for a change.
